SEARCHING THE INTERNET: TIPS & TRICKS
Try these ideas to get better results on Google & other search engines
1. Use quotation marks to search for words in a certain order.
Example: "World War II" or "space shuttle"
2. A minus sign will exclude a word from a search.
Example: virus -computer will search for the word virus but not computer (Be sure to put a space before the minus sign)
3. On Google, you can limit searches to certain kinds of websites, like .edu or .org. These are educational or non-profit websites.
Example: war site:edu (searches for war on .edu sites)
4. Combine these steps for very specific searches.
Example: "World War" -II (will search "world war" but not "II")
Google Example: "World War" -II site:edu (will search "world war" but not "II" and will limit to .edu websites)
