FAQs or Frequently Asked Questions

Can I pay my library bills online with a credit card? Yes. We are now providing this service through E-Pay, a secure electronic online payment service sponsored by the state of Illinois. You can learn more about this from our E-pay website and FAQ's (pdf).
 
Can I suspend a hold I have placed? Yes. You will not lose your place in the queue and the materials will not arrive for you while you’re gone. Follow these steps:
  • Click on "My Account" and "Review my account".
  • Enter your library card number and password (a hint for the default password is available on this window).
  • Scroll to holds and click "Edit hold" or "Edit all holds".
  • Enter the suspension start date (perhaps the day before you leave) and the suspension end date (perhaps the day you arrive back).
Can I reserve an Internet or word processing computer? Yes, contact the Adult Information Desk (847-428-3661 x308 or x307) for more specific information.

Can I save to the hard drive of a library computer? We recommend you save to a usb flash drive, sold at the Circulation Desk. You may save to a certain part of the hard drive but files are deleted frequently.

Can I return materials from other libraries here? Yes.

Do you accept a library card from another public library? Yes.

Do you deliver materials to the homebound?
Yes. If you or someone you know would like to participate in this program, please call 847-428-3661 ext. 314.

Do you have a bookdrop at another location?
Yes, at the Jewel (Google Map) store by Spring Hill Mall on Rt. 72. and the Culvers at the intersection of Randall Road and Huntley Road (Google Map).

Do you have a floorplan of your library? Yes, it can be found on the Library Floorplan website.

Do you have a public fax machine? Yes, at the front Circulation Desk. $2.00 for the first page ; $1.00 for each additional page. If there is a cover letter, it counts as a page.

Do you have any job openings ? Please call the Business Office at 847-428-3661 x300 or check job openings website.

Do the Friends of the Library accept material donations? Yes they do want audio-visual and print materials (except magazines) if they are in good condition.

Does the library have computers with Internet access and word processing? Does the library charge for printing from their computers?
Yes, contact the Adult Information Desk (847-428-3661 x308 or x307) about how to reserve a computer. You can buy a print vend card for $1.00 which has value on it, and more money can be added to it. (10 cents per page printed)

Does the library proctor exams? Yes, call the Adult Information Desk (847-428-3661 x308) for assistance or see our proctoring guidelines Proctoring Guidelines (pdf) (pdf).

Does the library have wireless access for patrons? Yes.

How will I be notified that my materials have come in?
Phone call, leaving a message on answering machine, or you can register to be notified via email. The email address you submit will only be used for library business such as hold notification, overdue notices, etc. All information in your record is kept confidential. You can also call 847-590-8706 to check overdues, renew items, find due dates or check what you have available for pick-up. Have your library card handy!
